Field Service Technician – Rotating Equipment (Motors, Pumps & Controls)
Industry: Rotating Equipment / Electric Motors / Pumps
Hourly Rate: $25.00/hr - $40.00/hr+ (Based on experience)
Location: Harrisburg, PA (Remote) - Candidates can be up to 200 miles away from the shop
Territory: PA, NJ, NY, OH, WV, VA, MD & Washington DC
Position Type: Permanent / Full-Time
The Opportunity
Industrial Recruitment Group has partnered with a leading industrial rotating equipment service organization specializing in electric motors, pumps, controls, and field service solutions for critical industrial applications.
With decades of industry experience, this organization supports customers across manufacturing, steel, power generation, municipal, chemical, food and beverage, and other heavy industrial markets.
Their services include industrial motor and pump repair, rotating equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, equipment installation, plant shutdown support, and complete field service solutions designed to minimise customer downtime.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join their Harrisburg, PA team.
This is a hands-on field role focused on troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and servicing industrial rotating equipment including electric motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes, gear reducers, and associated mechanical and electrical systems.
This opportunity is ideal for a technician who enjoys solving complex industrial problems, working directly with customers, and providing high-quality technical solutions.
Experience with vibration analysis, condition monitoring, laser alignment, or field balancing would be highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial rotating equipment including AC/DC motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes, and gear reducers
- Perform mechanical and electrical diagnostics to identify equipment issues and recommend solutions
- Complete repairs, inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance activities
- Support equipment removal, installation, startup, alignment, and rigging activities
- Assist with vibration analysis, field balancing, coupling inspections, and rotating equipment assessments
- Complete service reports and technical documentation accurately
- Communicate directly with customers and provide professional technical support
- Work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
Candidate Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working with industrial equipment, rotating machinery, or field service applications
- Strong background with electric motors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, or similar equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
- Comfortable travelling to customer sites and working independently Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Experience within steel, manufacturing, power generation, wastewater, chemical, food and beverage, or other heavy industrial environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to pass a drug and background checks.
- A full clean driver's license
Logistics:
- Travel Requirements: Candidates should be comfortable travelling throughout the assigned territory and staying overnight when required.
- Location Requirements: Ideally located within approximately 2 hours of Harrisburg, PA
- Driving Requirements: Valid driver’s license required.
